Come to a TACA Meeting!

TACA holds monthly meetings in many locations throughout the United States that feature educational speakers on important topics and allow family members to connect with one another and stay on top of the latest information in the autism world. Each TACA group maintains a resource library of the latest autism books and tapes that can be checked out by members at no charge.

Are you wondering what happens at a TACA meeting? Watch our video.

Parents from throughout the San Joaquin Valley are encouraged to join us in Visalia. Families come from a 100-mile radius to hear our speakers and convene with other parents and grandparents. Whether you live in a mountain community in the Sierra Nevada, down to Bakersfield to the south, up to Merced in the north, or out in Coalinga and Lemoore in the west, we would love to meet you.

Lynne Arnold, Your Child's Back-to-School IEP

The kids are back in school with new clothes, a fresh supply of notebooks and maybe a cool new backpack. But what about you? Are you prepared for your special needs child to start school?

Even if your child already has an IEP (Individual Education Plan), remember, it’s just a “plan.” For your child to get the full advantage (and hopefully significant progress) from the IEP, your participation in and preparation for its implementation is critical.

Lynne Arnold will share 10 valuable tips to help your child to make a successful transition into the new school year and better understand your child's legal rights.

Through conference presentations and mentoring, Lynne helps parents to understand their child's rights to appropriate interventions and education. Lynne is the editor of Autism: Asserting Your Child’s Rights to a Special Education by David A. Sherman. She has presented at Autism One (2005-2008), National Autism Association Conference (2005, 2007), Families for Early Intervention (FEAT) and for other autism groups.

Need support BETWEEN support group meetings?

Not a problem - it is just an email away!

Email lists are a great way to stay connected between meetings. You can subscribe, read emails and ask questions all related to autism. These lists connect you to other parents like you in California. Here is how to connect:
Step 1 - Get a Yahoo! user ID and password
Step 2 - Search for groups in your area. Here are some groups we like:

Step 4 - Click on “Join This Group”
Step 5 - Set your account to “Individual Emails,” “Daily Digest” or “Web Only.”
With the exception of TACA-USA, these groups are not affiliated with TACA.
